American athlete Jesse Owens, in the far inside lane, won the 100-meter dash at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, Germany. Owens dominated track-and-field competition at the games, also winning gold medals in the 200-meter dash, the long jump, and the 4 x 100-meter relay.
